Position: Education and Communication Manager

FOUR PAWS Viet is a Vietnamese NGO - partner of FOUR PAWS International, an animal welfare organization founded in 1988 with the Headquarter in Vienna, Austria, and has offices in 10 other countries.

FOUR PAWS aims to support the conservation of wild animals and prevent them from trade and exploitation while rescuing and rehabilitating those animals caught in the wildlife trade, to campaign for improved policy and enforcement through our work and the work of our partners and to raise public awareness for the need of biodiversity protection and conservation of wild animals and their habitats.

In 2017 FOUR PAWS Viet began building a state of the art bear sanctuary in Ninh Binh that will be able to house up to 44 bears. In November 2017, FOUR PAWS welcomed the first 3 bears who will call this sanctuary home. In January 2018, the fourth bear joined the community in BEAR SANCTUARY Ninh Binh.

Position: Education and Communication Manager (m/f)
Fulltime / BEAR SANCTUARY Ninh Binh, close to Cuc Phuong National Park, Vietnam

Summary/ Objectives: Develop and implement an educational concept with focus on animal and environment protection for Vietnam.

Responsibilities:

• Developing, coordinating and managing the implementation of the educational concept
  
  • Work with FPI’s Education and Communication team to develop an educational concept with focus on animal and environment protection for Vietnam
  • Design and develop educational/training programs and training materials in consistence with the concept
  • Establish networks and ensure cooperation with schools and other institutions in line with the FOUR PAWS Viet Youth Engagement Program
  • Coordinate workshop/training activities
  • Deliver the training programs when required
  • Apply for permission to conduct workshops in public schools
  • Manage the FOUR PAWS Viet Education Board game production
  • Maintain correspondence with students via social media
  • Translate Education and Communication materials from English into Vietnamese and vice versa

• Implement the educational concept inside Bear Sanctuary Ninh Binh
  
  • Develop educational exhibition elements for Bear Sanctuary Ninh Binh
  • Coordinate and perform guided tours and events in Bear Sanctuary Ninh Binh
  • Prepare, implement and evaluate visitor surveys
  • Train and manage volunteers and new team members in environmental education
  • Support the development of a tourism strategy for Bear Sanctuary Ninh Binh

• Develop and maintain relations with donors

• Supervise the Education and Communication Assistant
  
  • Oversee the tasks of the Education and Communication Assistant
  • Check the content of articles for FOUR PAWS Viet Facebook and other social media pages

• Additional duties:
  
  • Translate other documents when needed.
  • Assist foreign staff in working with Vietnamese people when required
  • Others as assigned by FOUR PAWS Viet’s Director

Requirements:

• Holding relevant bachelor or master degree in marketing, communication, education or environment.
• Very good written and spoken English
• Computer literacy (MS Office requested)
• Experience in marketing, marketing activation, event organisation and public relations
• Experience in NGO work in Vietnam is an advantage
• Experience with student clubs/ volunteers is an advantage
• Experience in working with students and school children is an advantage
• High level of responsibility and personal drive
• Creative and strategic thinking person
• Willingness to travel
• Dedication and passion for animal welfare and FOUR PAWS values and issues
