Vacancy: DRR & Emergency Manager
Based in Hanoi

We are looking for a qualified Vietnamese national for the position of DRR Emergency Manager. The successful candidate will base in Hanoi. Competitive remuneration package and opportunity for learning and development will be offered for this position.

Main Responsibilities: The Manager DRR and Emergencies (DRR&E) is a member of the Program Development and Quality team, and is responsible to guide all DRR&E work in Vietnam with the aim of further developing and implementing our strategies DRR&E and plans to improve the DRR status of children in Vietnam and to ensure provision of services for the most marginalised children and their families during and after emergencies. The specialist will ensure that the programmes DRR&E are in line with the SCI priorities.

The Manager will ensure that Save the Children Vietnam activities are consistent with SCI and Members’ programming principles and approaches, draw on good practices and lessons learned, enable children to attain their rights and are compliant with donor regulations. As part of Save the Children’s dual mandate, the DRR&E Manager will participate in other longer term program work and seek to integrate relevant DRR components in the programs as requested by the country leadership team.

Key Competencies 

Essential

  • At least 5 years DRR&E sector leadership/management experience in an NGO environment, including experience directing and implementing programs for children in both emergency and development contexts
  • Bachelor’s degree in DRR&E or field related/relevant to international DRR&E work
  • Proven technical knowledge and capacity to lead implementation of DRR&E activities, projects, programs
  • Good understanding of challenges facing vulnerable children and communities in Vietnam
  • Commitment to humanitarian principles/accountability frameworks, especially for work with vulnerable populations
  • Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, to motivate and inspire team work
  • Ability to analyze information, evaluate options and to think strategically
  • Solid knowledge/experience of effective budget design and management: spending/control/reporting
  • Excellent (English language) narrative writing skills: reports, proposals, promotional materials, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Experience of working in an emergency setting and/or commitment to build that capacity
  • Flexibility and a sense of humour – ability to work, live and thrive in challenging circumstances
  • Able and willing to learn from others and share experiences, professionally and personally (as per group living)
  • Commitment  to  and  understanding  of  SCI  aims,  values  and principles  including rights-based approaches
