Contract duration: From 10 June 2018 to 15 Sep 2018

1. Background

HELVETAS is a co-implementing partner with SwissContact to implement the Swiss Import and Export Program. Out of the 11 countries globally, the component in Vietnam will enhance the performance of selected BSOs in Vietnam in order to enable them to provide export promotion services in two main sectors of Technical Wood and Outdoor Furniture and Value Added Textiles in an effective, efficient and sustainable way. This TOR is for the service to work along with SIPPO in supporting 03 BSOs of the Wood sector to carry out desk study for market trend and produce a market outlook. Particularly the service will take Korean market as an example whereby Hawa, one of 03 BSOs will be coached to prepare for their booth and study trip in the Korean Furniture Trade fair in August 2018 in Korea.

2. Objective(s) of consultancy

• 03 BSOs staff acquired of expertise in market desk study and preparation of market outlook
• Hawa’s staff capacity in preparation for the booth and study trip.
• Contribution to obtaining quantity and quality visitors and potential buyers for Hawa.

3. Main Tasks and Activities of the Assignee (or consultant)

• Training/knowledge transfer on Market Desk & Field Study, using Vietrade/SECO training materials & Development of Market Bulletins:
• Development of Market Outlook for Korean Market
• Guidance on preparation for the booth and the study trip

4. Expected deliverables

• One brief training on market research and market trend
• One training on market outlook (electronic version) and production of Market
• List of potential buyers and contacts in Korean market
• 2 pages summary of follow-up result of the fair and lessons learnt

5. Working methodology and Time frame

The consultant will carry out the activities in autonomy and in close cooperation with the SIPPO PMU, SIPPO Country Representative, HELVETAS Country director and admin team as required.

For all activities during this inception phase a track of days worked and subjects tackled must be laid down in a working journal.

8. Qualifications

• Education: Post-graduate degree of equivalent in economic, trade promotion or international business
• Language : Excellent English and Vietnamese
• Professional experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in trade promotion. Experience in development projects with European donors and partners is essential.
• Knowledge: in-depth knowledge in trade promotion and Vietnam – Korea trade relation as particular.
• Personal skills: Strong interpersonal, social, communication and team work skills.
