1.    Background

SNV (www.snvworld.org) is a not-for-profit international development organization. Founded in the Netherlands 50 years ago, we have built a long-term, local presence in 38 of the poorest countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Our global team of local and international advisors work with local partners to equip communities, businesses and organizations with the tools, knowledge and connections they need to increase their incomes and gain access to basic services – empowering them to break the cycle of poverty and guide their own development.

SNV has been working in Vietnam since 1995. Using market based approaches, SNV is committed to reducing poverty by catalysing environmentally sustainable solutions for the poor in agriculture, energy, water & sanitation, and REDD+.

In Vietnam, SNV manages the Inclusive Business Accelerator program (IBA, https://iba.ventures/). Inclusive business is a strategic, innovative, commercially- viable business initiative, which unlocks entrepreneurial opportunities for low-income markets to engage in the value chain. Inclusive business creates shared value for the businesses, low-income markets and the environment.

IBA Vietnam is seeking the services of a professional photographer with experience in taking development work oriented photographs. The photographer will assist the organisation to document its various projects activities and success stories through photography. These photographs will form part of SNV/IBA’s project/programme photo portfolio.

2.    Responsibilities

Under the supervision of IBA Program Manager, the photographer will be required to:

  • Capture high resolution images of IBA’s various project activities in selected provinces. Content of  pictures is about production(in the field); R&D, sorting and processing activities (in the factory or warehouse)
  • Caption each photograph with specific details such as the location taken, name of the person (for portraits), activity and any other relevant information.
  • Provide IBA with at least 500 high quality photographs from all assigned the projects including. The copy right for all these photographs remains with SNV/IBA.

3.    Candidate profile

  • Five years progressive experience as a photographer
  • Experience taking photographs for development related agencies and projects
  • Previous experience of working with development organizations and international agencies.
  • Availability and willingness to travel upcountry
  • Ability to work in close coordination with other team members.
  • At least a high school certificate but possession of a degree or diploma or training in photo journalism will be an added advantage.
  • Ownership or possession of a high resolution state of the art digital camera/equipment is a MUST.
  • Sample pictures or sample project that was conducted by the candidate

4.    Assignment duration

The assignment will cover 5 working days (excluding travel time)

5.    Reporting

The successful candidate will administratively be under the overall supervision of IBA Program Manager and work collaboratively with IBA Junior Business Advisor to deliver the assignment.

6.    Intellectual property

All information pertaining to this project (documentary, digital, cyber, project documents, etc.) belonging to SNV/IBA, which the consultant may come into contact with in the performance of his/her, duties under this assignment shall remain the property of SNV/IBA who shall have exclusive rights over their use. Except for purposes of this assignment, the information shall not be disclosed to the public nor used in whatever without written permission of SNV in line with the national and International Copyright Laws applicable.

7.    How to apply
