Agricultural Experts About Broad Leaf Tea Trees (Shan Tuyet Tea)

The Microfinance and Community Development Institute (MACDI) is a non-governmental organization located in Hanoi, Vietnam that specializes in microfinance, community and business development, and poverty alleviation.

Our vision is to make an effective contribution towards eradicating poverty while participating in the development of an equitable and sustainable society and financial service sector in Vietnam and throughout the global community.  We work to assist capacity building for three groups: microfinance institutions, small and medium enterprises and impoverished households specially those who are classified as disadvantaged and/or those living in remote areas.

Our goal is to support these organizations to strengthen their abilities in order to offer more competitive products and services to the poor and marginalized members of society in sustainable ways.

At the present, the MACDI is implementing programs of community development activities in  North and center of Vietnam. To respond on our development, we are looking for 2 Vietnamese experts who research on broad leaf tea (Shan snow tea) to implement the project in four provinces in Viet Nam.

Position information:

- Position title: Agricultural experts about broad leaf tea trees (Shan Tuyet Tea)
- Work duration: 1 month
- Work location: 4 provinces in the Northern highlands of Vietnam

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Production and market conditions for Shan Tuyet tea
- Potential partner companies as entry points for pro-poor value chain development
- Potential farmer groups to link to value chains
- Potential government partners
- Links with other programs and projects

Qualifications Required:

- A deep understanding of high quality broad leaf tea (Shan Tuyet tea) in the Northern highlands of Vietnam;
- A proven experience in value-chain analysis, notably for the development of pro-poor value chains;
- Experience in conducting surveys and interviews with stakeholders in remote areas, including ethnic minority groups – for the development of value chains linking local
communitites with markets;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Vietnamese and proved verbal and written competence in English
