Urgent meeting of Disaster Management Working Group on Flooding in Lao Cai province

This is an emergency meeting of PACCOM with DMWG members and other stakeholders to discuss on relief and recovery measures for flash flood affected people in Can Ho A village, Ban Khoang commune, Sapa district, Lao Cai province.

According to update report by Lao Cai Provincial People’s Committee dated 6th September, the flash flood occurred during the night of 4th September and caused 11 loss of lives and missing, and 17 injured; 10 houses were totally destroyed and other 14 houses were damaged. It is estimated that  55 households with 267 individuals will need to be urgently relocated to safe areas as a result of the flash flood. Total damage by the flash flood was estimated at about VND 200 billion (or US$ 9.4 millions)
