Save the Children in Vietnam (SC) works to promote every child’s rights to survival, protection, participation and development as set forth in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.  The current programme focuses on the following core sectors: Health and Nutrition; HIV/AIDS prevention; Care and support; Education; Child protection; Child-focused emergency preparedness and response; Child rights agenda, including Civil society development, Economic opportunities, Child poverty Research, and Advocacy for child-friendly development policy and practice.

Vietnamese Research Consultancy Team

2 months: November 2009 – December 2009

Save the Children is seeking for a team of research consultants to carry out a research, to document and analyze the use of teaching assistants (TAs) to support ethnic minority children’s learning in classrooms in preschool and in the first grades (1-3) of primary education in Vietnam.

Required Qualifications
- Experience designing, conducting and analyzing classroom observations and interviews with a wide range of educational stakeholders.
- Ability to observe multilingual classes with constructive comments on teaching methodology.
- Training and experience in conducting research in cross-cultural and multilingual setting.
- Strong analytical skill and expertise in documentation education good practice
- Ability to work in a multicultural team
- Prior knowledge on the development issues in the South East Asia and community participation in development work.
- Strong preference for a candidate fluent in Vietnamese.
