Pathfinder International (PI) is a US-based NGO whose mission in Viet Nam is to improve sexual and reproductive health (RH) through capacity building and policy-focused initiatives that respond to the needs of the society. To this end, PI supports efforts to strengthen pre-service and in-service training in reproductive health, including core clinical reproductive health practices, youth-friendly services and HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment. In addition, PI works to strengthen reproductive health management practices and policies supportive of quality RH training and services. Pathfinder is seeking International or Vietnamese qualified and experienced candidates for the following position:
Senior Technical Advisor based in Viet Nam:
The Viet Nam Senior Technical Advisor provides technical leadership and strategic support for the implementation of Pathfinder’s expanding work and for the identification and development of innovative new projects. The Advisor plays a key role in supporting all partners to expand and institutionalize lessons learned and to scale up project achievements. Institutional capacity building for local partners in support of preparing, delivering and evaluating training is key in this approach. Therefore the Advisor’s technical focus will be on training and institutional capacity building.
The Senior Technical Advisor works closely with the Country Representative, the Deputy Country Representative for programs and with the Program Managers responsible for activities in public sector clinics, universities and professional medical associations in the execution of this role. The Advisor reports to the Country Representative. As needed, the Advisor collaborates with Pathfinder’s international partners and external consultants.
Requirements:
- Medical Doctor with a minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of RH training programs/projects for public and private sector partners in developing countries;
- Experience with institutional development preferred;
- Demonstrated experience providing technical assistance to partners and in bringing program results to scale;
- Familiarity with relevant literature and latest professional developments in reproductive health;
- Self-confident; ability to work in teams; strong analytical ability; good communication and information management skills; integrity and attention to details and client orientation;
- Competence in the use of standard Microsoft office applications;
- Ability to communicate and write effectively in English. Vietnamese language is an asset.
