About Operation Smile
Operation Smile, headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia, was founded in 1982 by Dr. William P. Magee Jr., a plastic surgeon, and his wife, Kathleen S. Magee, a nurse and clinical social worker.  Operation Smile currently supports international and local, in-country medical missions to 34 countries.  Since 1982 Operation Smile has been providing free treatment to more than 120,000 children and young adults in developing countries born with facial deformity.  The majority of these patients suffer from cleft lip and cleft palate deformities.
The Regional Office of Operation Smile in Asia Pacific was established in Hanoi early 2007 for supporting Operation Smile’s foundations in Asia and coordinating international missions in the region.
This November Operation Smile will proudly celebrate its 20-year Anniversary in Vietnam by conducting “The Journey of Miracles” which will take place across the country with our goal of putting new smiles on over 1,000 children born with facial deformities and almost 2,000 dental cares in just 10 days.
